Transparency
Why Our Prices.
The question we get most often. Here is the full, honest answer.
The honest answer
The question we hear more than any other is simple: how can you sell the same fragrances for so much less? It is a fair question, and you deserve a complete, transparent answer — not a marketing line.
The short version: the fragrance industry runs on one of the largest mark-ups of any consumer product in the world. A designer bottle that retails for $300 typically costs between $15 and $40 to produce — the liquid, the glass, the cap, and the box combined. The remaining 80–90% of the price you pay covers boutique rent, global advertising campaigns, celebrity endorsements, and multi-layered distribution fees.
We remove all of that. You pay for the fragrance. Nothing else.
The Manufacturing Cost
A premium fragrance — quality raw ingredients, fine glass, precision filling — costs roughly $15–$40 to manufacture. This is what the liquid inside a $300 bottle actually costs to exist.
The Retail Mark-Up
Designer brands apply a 10–20× mark-up to fund global advertising, flagship boutiques, celebrity partnerships, and distribution networks across dozens of countries. You pay for all of it — whether you want to or not.
The Selaré Difference

What it means.
Understanding our sourcing model
UA stands for Unauthorized Authentic. In the fragrance world, this refers to products manufactured to the same quality specifications and using the same raw ingredients as their designer counterparts — but sourced and sold independently, outside of the brand's official retail distribution network.
These are not counterfeits. They are not diluted. They are not replicas. The fragrance oil concentration, the longevity, the sillage, the bottle — all meet the same quality standard as the retail version. What is absent is the brand's retail license and the price premium that comes with it.
Many of the world's finest fragrance raw materials — oud, rose absolute, iris, ambergris — are sourced from the same global suppliers regardless of whether the end product carries a designer label or not. The quality of a fragrance is determined by its formula and ingredients, not the name on the box.
At Selaré, every product we carry is UA Approved — meaning it meets our internal standard for fragrance quality, authenticity of composition, and longevity. We only list what we would wear ourselves.
