MUST READ - Why the low prices

Selare offers luxury fragrance experiences without the traditional retail markup. By focusing on exceptional scent quality, premium ingredients, and refined presentation rather than inflated boutique pricing, we’re able to deliver iconic fragrance profiles at far greater value. What you’re paying for is the fragrance experience itself — not the overhead of luxury storefronts, excessive branding costs, or unnecessary markups.

Description
Maroussia is the first fragrance by the Russian designer Slava Zaitsev. Maroussia is a beautiful female Russian name: Marusja or Maria. The perfume is intensive oriental with the rich floral heart and woody – balmy base. It is not very popular in Russia, but it is praised by the western critics as well as buyers. Aldehydes, bergamot, orange blossom and peach are at the top notes; heliotrope, jasmine, rose, lily-of-the-valley, orchid, iris, tuberose and ylang-ylang in the heart; and amber, benzoin, cedar, civet, musk, sandalwood, Tonka bean and vanilla at the base. The perfume was made in 1992.

The house of Slava Zaitsev was founded by Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Zaitsev known as Slava Zaitsev in Russia. He is a Russian fashion designer, painter, graphic artist and theatrical costume designer. His design is influenced by traditional Russian and Slavic styles. In 1952 he enrolled in the Faculty of Applied Arts at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Ivanovo to acquire a diploma of a textile artist. He moved to Moscow in 1956, and enrolled in the Moscow Textile Institute where he acquired a diploma in painting and designing. Zaitsev was one of the dominant figures in haute couture during the Soviet regime and was often compared with the most appreciated Western designers. One of his first positions was the one of artistic director of Experimental technical garment factory in Moscow, where he was in charge of production of women's clothing for retail stores. He soon became well-known for designing a chic version of traditional Russian clothes, but, nevertheless, the regime did not approve production of his collection. His next position was the one of the Chief Designer at the All-Union Fashion House, known as Dom Modeli. His work caught attention of French designers and he was given nickname Red Dior. It was in 1978 that he started working on his own, from a small studio, later to become «Slava Zaitsev» Moscow Fashion House or Dom Modi. It was one of the biggest Soviet couturiers who served thousands of customers and was popular among high society ladies such as the Soviet Firts Lady. In that period of time he even wrote two books covering fashion - "Such Changeable Fashion" and "This Multifaceted World of Fashion". After displaying his designer pieces in Japan and Canada, Zaitsev signed a three year contract with Intertorg Inc. in 1987, which enabled him to offer and sell his designs in the United States. Soon after he conquered Paris, joined the Maison de Couture and was named "Man of the Year in the World of Fashion". In 1991 Zaitsev created his first perfume. That was a classic women perfume named Maroussia, created in collaboration with the French house of L'Oréal. The perfume is a floral oriental and is still a favorite not only to Russian women, but to worldwide audience. In 1992 Zaitsev conquered the USA and attracted a lot of attention with his fashion shows and exhibitions of his paintings, which were widely attended, an meant the beginning of cultural exchanges. Even the President of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, appreciated Zaitsev and awarded him the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of literature and the arts in 1996. He was also close to President Putin ad designed an attire for his wife for the presidential pair's visit to teh Queen of England. Zaitsev expended his collection to menswear, as well. Slava Zaitsev has always remained true to his Russian roots and has therefore designed in Russian style and for Russian audience primarily.

Fragrance Guidance

How do I choose the right fragrance?

Start with the note families you're naturally drawn to. The main families are:

Floral— soft, romantic, feminine.
Woody / Oud— deep, warm, long-lasting.
Fresh / Citrus— clean, light, ideal for daytime.
Oriental / Amber— rich, sensual, complex.
Gourmand— sweet, comforting, distinctive.

What's the difference between EDP, EDT, and Parfum?

These terms refer to the concentration of fragrance oil in the formula:

Parfum / Extrait: 20–40% — the most intense and longest-lasting.
Eau de Parfum (EDP): 15–20% — rich, long-lasting, ideal for everyday wear.
Eau de Toilette (EDT): 5–15% — lighter, fresher, great for daytime or warmer weather.

How long do your fragrances last on skin?

Longevity varies by concentration and skin type.

As a general guide — EDP: 6–10 hours, EDT: 4–6 hours, Parfum: 10+ hours.

Applying to pulse points (wrists, neck, behind the ears) and to moisturised skin will maximise the wear of any fragrance.

MUST READ - What does 'UA Approved' mean?

UA Approved stands for Unauthorized Authentic — items manufactured in the same factories, using the same ingredients, materials and production standards as the retail versions sold in brand boutiques.

They are the same physical product, produced to the same specification, without the brand's retail premium attached. The only difference is the price.

How does the quality compare to what's sold in boutiques?

The quality is uncompromising — the same attention to detail, premium ingredients, and refined craftsmanship expected from the world’s most iconic fragrances. From the richness of the oils to the depth, longevity, and overall scent experience, every bottle is selected to deliver a luxury fragrance experience without the traditional retail markup. When you shop with Selare, you’re choosing sophistication, performance, and timeless scent profiles at exceptional value.

Why are prices so much lower than retail?

Retail luxury prices include an average 10–20× markup over manufacturing cost. That markup covers boutique rent, global marketing budgets, brand licensing fees, and multiple layers of distribution intermediaries.

Selaré sources directly from the factories — removing every layer of overhead. You pay for what the object actually costs to make, not what it costs to maintain a brand's global retail infrastructure.

Do items come with original packaging and accessories?

Yes. Every Selare order is presented with the same premium attention to detail expected from a luxury fragrance experience. Your fragrance arrives beautifully packaged, making the unboxing feel refined, elevated, and gift-worthy from the moment it arrives. From presentation to first spray, the experience is designed to feel every bit as luxurious as the scent itself.

Is my payment secure?

All transactions are processed through SSL-encrypted, PCI-compliant payment gateways. We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as PayPal and other secure payment methods at checkout.

Your financial details are never stored on our servers. Every transaction is handled by your chosen payment provider under their full security protocols.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes — we ship to most countries worldwide. Orders are dispatched within 1–5 business days and tracked from the moment they leave our facility.

Shipping costs and estimated delivery times are calculated at checkout based on your location. For high-value orders, discreet packaging and signature-on-delivery are applied as standard.
